Awesome Adirondacks!

After what seems like a very VERY long cold winter, lilacs are beginning to bloom, pasty legs are finally starting to emerge under shorts, and everyone is starting to drag out their summer furniture. One of my favorite classic summer chairs is the Adirondack chair. Nothing screams summer like sipping a nice cold lemonade while lounging in one of these chairs. Besides the traditional style, there are new emerging designs that bring a new twist to the old. My favorite is Loll Designs‘ chairs. This is a company that is out of Duluth, MN and is one of the most sustainable outdoor furniture companies. Made out of recycled high density polyethylene, the furniture is durable to leave outside in the coldest of Minnesota winters.

This is the 4 slat Adirondack chair made from 400 recycled milk jugs retailing for $550. You can find other variations of Loll designs, such as Room and Board’s Emmet Chair and Design Within Reachs‘ Adirondack chair. I also saw one at Twin Cities Green.

Another great twist on the classic Adirondack chair are the chairs from thebeanbagstore.com.

They all come in different colors and shapes. This one has a little rooster up near the top. It is currently retailing for $350. You can see a castle version and a chair with a topiary at their website or you can talk to someone at Designers Furniture Warehouse at 7876 Portland Ave S in Minneapolis.

Another gorgeous chair ottoman combo is the Lakeside Adirondack chair and ottoman set from Crate and Barrel:
The set is made from all weather wicker resin. I love the summery, updated style on this one. This works well with both contemporary and updated traditional styles. It retails for $499. You can find it at Crate and Barrel’s website.
