Nestled in the corner of Lake & Bryant lies the beautiful FIVE Event Center. From the outside, the building reads, “Fifth Precinct,” but don’t be fooled-you won’t find any police here, unless they are celebrating a wedding! The FIVE event center is resides in a building that was build in 1895 that housed a police station for the Fifth Precinct, until the late 1960’s. Now it is a stunning event hall that incorporates the original architecture with contemporary elements. Read on after the jump to learn more about FIVE and to see a tour of the space.

I had the chance to talk to Bruce Dachis, owner of FIVE Event Center, about the history behind FIVE. FIVE originally opened in 2005 as a chic restaurant and street lounge. The restaurant closed soon after. Dachis’ friend, Geri Wolfe, of event planning company, The Style Laboratory, had the smart idea to turn the defunct restaurant into an event center.
In 2007, FIVE re-opened its doors as a venue for guests to rent for occasions such as, weddings, holiday parties, corporate events, proms, and bar mitzvahs. Using the original design by BKV Group and Christine Frisk of InUnison Design, the two level space blends the original brick architecture with contemporary, chic elements. The purple, burgundy, and gold accents infuse the space with warmth and style into the downstairs lounge and the upstairs event hall. The space accommodates 200 for a seated dinner and 350 for a cocktail reception.
Dachis told me that he wants FIVE Event Center to be “a special place where happy memories will occur.” With its elegant interior and friendly staff, FIVE Event Center helps to create a top-notch experience for their guests.
